Ranch Retreat

These days, everyone needs a time and place to really get away.

Our Phantom Canyon Ranch Retreat is for creative people who want a quiet, contemplative getaway surrounded by open land, stream bottoms and wildlife. Our historic ranch compound includes a bunkhouse guest apartment, which includes a sitting room, bedroom, kitchenette, ¾ bath and a porch. There is a large library of art and history books for your perusal and plenty of sketching/journaling opportunities in a private, secluded environment. A rancher, inventor and author, Carl has been a plein air painter for forty years, and Sarah, likewise, a potter for forty years. Together, they can engage or leave you in solitude, as you like.

Several young people work part-time in the pottery and on the ranch, tending animals and the vegetable garden. Wildlife sightings may include wild turkeys, eagles, blue herons, beaver, owls, deer, foxes and coyotes.

We are located 25 miles north of Fort Collins, Colorado, surrounded by foothills ranch-land and preserved open space, easily accessible from a maintained county road, just 3/4 mile west of US Highway 287. Nearby is the Cache la Poudre River with its world-class trout fishing and public trails, the Nature Conservancy’s Phantom Canyon Preserve, Eagle’s Nest Open Space, Cherokee Park State Wildlife Area and Roosevelt National Forest, the Drala Mountain Center and Soapstone Open Space.

Limit two participants at a time. Flexible schedule. For more information, please contact Carl or Sarah Judson at 970-217-5759.
